Tickets for the 2010 World Cup went on sale last week without the expected rush. It is cause for concern. With less than 500 days to go, one would have expected there would be greater enthusiasm for tickets than was shown last week.

We have no doubt that many South Africans would love to watch sports' greatest spectacle from the grand stand. The organisers should therefore identify the reason why our passion for the game was not reflected in a frantic scramble for tickets.

We hope the next round of ticket sales will show the international football family that it was a good idea to bring the World Cup here.
