Suspended national police commissioner Jackie Selebi says he is ready to go to trial following the Johannesburg high court ruling on Friday compelling the Scorpions to give him all documents pertaining to his case.
He said the admission by Scorpion's advocate Gerrie Nel that they have not obtained affidavits from Leonard McCarthy and Vusi Pikoli were absurd.
"McCarthy was their boss and Pikoli was always with them, they could have obtained statements from them without any difficulty. It goes to show that they are playing games," he said.
Selebi applied to the Johannesburg high court last week to force the Scorpions to hand over documents [so as] to prepare for his corruption and defeating hands of justice trial in April.
In his application, he said his repeated efforts to get hold of this information were ignored by the Scorpions.
His lawyer Jaap Cilliers told the court that Selebi was being framed by main witnesses, Glen Agliotti and Clinton Nassif.
"Their job was to frame people," said Cilliers.
In his ruling on Friday, Judge Nico Coetzee ordered the Scorpions to give Selebi all documents he wanted to prepare for his trial.
