Zimbabwean nationals aligned to the Movement for Democratic Change residing in KwaZulu-Natal picketed at the steps of Durban City Hall.

The picketers were calling for the release of all political prisoners in Zimbabwe.

Yesterday morning the protestors, wearing T-shirts inscribed "Robert Mugabe must go", said they were sick and tired of "Mugabe's hypocrisy and the silent approach by SADC chairman and South African President Kgalema Motlanthe".

Tamanikwa Nyakudya, information and publicist secretary of MDC in KwaZulu-Natal, said they wanted the political prosecution of MDC leaders and members to stop.

He said before the unity government was formed it was agreed that among other issues, all political prisoners would be released.

"It has not happened and instead, Mugabe's regime has carried out more arrests.

"We demand the release of all opposition detainees including Chris Dhlamini, Justina Mukoko and Roy Bennett," he said.
