People endorse ANC because of cash, fame

It comes as no surprise to us politically mature individuals that many celebrities endorse ANC campaigns.

It comes as no surprise to us politically mature individuals that many celebrities endorse ANC campaigns.

We all know that it is not about the credibility of the party, but it is about the financial opportunities and rewards that come with it.

Business people will also go all out to publicly endorse and finance the ANC and they refuse to support credible, alternative parties such as the DA.

Musicians such as Chicco Twala, Solly Moholo and others wrote songs about the ANC, not because they understand politics, but because they are capitalists who saw a market that would bring them millions of rands, as well as to perform at ANC rallies.

Ahead of the 2004 election the ANC approached Chicco and Brenda Fassie to write a campaign song for the organisation. This resulted in the song about Thabo Mbeki. Chicco made millions out of it. I know this because I was there when it was post-produced by Themba Dladla aka DJ Walker at Chicco's house in Bassonia.

We also know that radio DJs get payolas to play these ANC songs and DJ Sbu is no exception. I also know this because I am involved in the music industry, though I am not popular.

The endorsements will only stop when the ANC falls flat on its face and mark my words, that will happen, sooner rather than later.
