Teachers at Mpume-lelo Primary School at Ivory Park, near Midrand, have vowed not to return to classes until the principal had been removed.

Parents, teachers and members of the school governing body (SGB) gathered at the school and demanded that principal Benny Mokgoka be redeployed.

They accused Mokgoka of laying false charges against teachers and not following procedures when hiring teachers.

SGB chairman Lindiwe Motsepe said trouble started when Mokgoka objected to her presence at SGB meetings.

Motsepe said she was sidelined when seven teachers were interviewed to fill vacant posts.

SA Democratic Teachers Union representative Christopher Shakoane said Mokgoka was arrogant.

Gauteng department of education spokesman Nomsa Zwane said they were aware of the allegations and were still awaiting a full report and recommendations.
