Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
Platinum Stars chairman George Khunou has brushed aside claims that Jabu "Shuffle" Mahlangu has returned to his disappearing acts.
There are rumours that Mahlangu went AWOL at the North West club last week, resulting in the midfielder missing their match against Bay United on Saturday.
Mahlangu did not travel with the Tycoons to Mmabatho where they beat Umlilo 2-0.
Khunou admitted the former Bafana Bafana linkman missed two training sessions last week but said it was due to a chest problem.
"He was not part of the team because he had a chest problem and that is the only thing that prevented him from playing in that match," insisted Khunou yesterday.
"These are just cheap rumours created by people who want to destabilise the team. Jabu is training with the rest of the team in Sun City. He will be available for selection for our next match if he is fit to play.
"He was among the players who attended our planning meeting for next season."
The Stars boss also said that controversial defender Mbulelo "OJ" Mabizela was always hard at training.
"Our technical staff are monitoring his fitness progress considering that he is from a long injury. But he is determined to play and he is a player whose potential is well documented," said Khunou.
