How is hail made?
How is hail made?
It is created when water droplets are caught in the powerful updraft of a thunderstorm.
These droplets are lifted higher and higher into the sky until they freeze into ice.
When the droplets become heavy, they fall.
If the smaller hailstones again get caught in the updraft, more water gets attached to them and they get even bigger.
Then the freezing process takes place again.
This happens repeatedly until the hailstones become so heavy they fall to the ground. -
