Fifa top brass will be in South Africa next week for an assessment of the latest developments in the country's preparations for this year's Confederations Cup and next year's Fifa World Cup.
An official at the Local Organising Committee said yesterday: "Technical committee members of Fifa will be here from March 16 to 25. The focus of their inspection will be on the cities and venues for the 2009 Fifa Confederations Cup taking place in June.
"I know for a fact that those people will also go to Soccer City, the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
"They will be doing inspection on operational issues.
"As the LOC we are satisfied that the preparations for the two competitions are well on track."
Four venues - Ellis Park Stadium, Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, Loftus Stadium and Free State Stadium - will be used for the Confederations Cup.
