Twenty-eight female guards were unfairly dismissed by a security company because the client‚ Metrora.
Self-appointed former leader of the recently resurrected National Party, Juan Duval Uys has joined Cope, he announced yesterday.
"With my defection from the NP to Cope, my mood went from depression to that of excitement," said Uys, who is involved in a legal wrangle over the leadership of the NP.
Uys claimed yesterday that 42 of the party's 50 top officials had followed him to Cope, as well as all of the party's paid-up members.
He also claimed that paid-up members had demanded their membership fees back.
"With a bank balance of R581,35 the NP will find it difficult to compete in the elections."
On Monday, Achmat Williams and Abdullar Omar brought an application to the Cape high court to interdict Uys from claiming to be the NP's president. The case was postponed . - Sapa
