Nothembi Mkhwebane, the Queen of Ndebele music, has just done what is good for her - thanking her ancestors for her success.

Mkhwebane, sources have revealed, trekked from Pretoria to her home in Belfast, Mpumalanga, this month to hold a traditional ceremony.

"On Saturday, January 30, Nothembi Mkhwebane went to Belfast, where she was born, to thank and invite her ancestors to her newly built house.

"She left Pretoria early in the morning at about 4am for Belfast. She gathered all the family members, including her uncle who taught her to play the guitar.

"They went to her grand parents' graves. She spoke to them by way of pouring traditional home-brewed beer and snuff on the graves while talking," said a witness to the event.

"I organised this ceremony to thank my ancestors for my success and to bring them to my new house. Success and fame will not make me abandon my tradition," she said.
