It is more than a month since Shadi Kgaladi was swept away by raging storm water into the Kaal River at Ivory Park.
She has never been seen again.
But her family still hopes she will be found. They cannot find closure until they see her remains.
Kgaladi, 34, and her niece Nomvuyo Monageng, 3, of Ivory Park, were swept away on New Year's Eve by a strong current and thrown into the Kaal River.
Nomvuyo's body was found a day later, a kilometre from where the two had been swept away.
Last week Kgaladi's family conducted their last search in the river.
"We have tried everything to find my niece but it has yielded no results," said Elizabeth Monageng, Kgaladi's aunt.
"After so much work that has been done by the police and the family, we feel that Shadi may not be in the river.
"We hope that by some miracle Shadi will knock at our door and say she's come back home."
Two weeks after Kgaladi disappeared police called off their search after covering 19km of the river.
Kgaladi's husband, David Letlere, 33, has been distressed since that fateful night.
Their four-year-old daughter Lerato still pines for her mother. Every morning she asks for her mother.
About seven people have drowned in the river since 2005, and three have not been found.
