Kerri Laing, South African Women's Cricket president, believes they have selected a formidable national women's squad for the ICC Women's World Cup in Australia from March 7 to 23.
The 15-member squad was announced at the weekend in Cape Town after a three-day training camp at the University of Western Cape.
Said an excited Laing: "The team is well-balanced, focused and geared up to give their opponents a strong challenge.
"I am optimistic that they will hoist the South African flag high, come March."
The right-arm medium pace bowler, Marcia Letsoalo from the Northern Cricket Union, is among the talented young players who will be making their debut in the World Cup.
Others are the opening batters Yolandi van der Westhuizen of Boland and Kirsty Thompson of Gauteng, as well as the very exciting Northerns spinner, Dané van Niekerk.
