The Free State Cheetahs out-muscled the Blue Bulls and beat them 20-16 at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday.

This despite the fact that most of the Bulls' players are also in the Springbok team. Bulls' supporters occupied close to 80percent of the stadium only to be disappointed by their side who succumbed to Cheetas' pressure and allowed scrum half Tewis de Bruyn to score a penalty in the seventh minute.

Bulls led 13-3 at half time through fly half Morne Steyn's three penalties and a conversion, including the only try by right wing Akona Ndungana.

Jacques-Louis Potgieter and Meyer Bosman brought the Cheetas back into the match. Bulls' left wing Bryan Habana was voted man of the match despite having a very quite game.

Bulls' coach Frans Ludeke said he was impressed by his boys' display despite losing the match. - Matome Lebea
