Do you want to enjoy some cool jazz at this time of the year? Then, the place to be is Pro Musica Theatre in Florida, west of Johannesburg, for the first annual Summer Jazz and Blues Weekend.
The gig, which takes place on February 7 and 8, will see a selection of female musicians enthralling fans.
The theme for the weekend concert is Ladies in Jazz and it will feature a variety of established musicians as well as young, up-and-coming jazz students - many in need of recognition and exposure.
In addition, concertgoers can look forward to a variety of food stalls, CD stalls, bar facilities and films on jazz.
There will be a number of Joburg female jazz artists such as multi-instrumentalist Pam Mortimer and jazz singer Roz Tarr with the Retro-Swing Jazz Ensemble. Other participants include jazz singers Helenne Ulster and Zarcia Zacheus, trombonist Lebo Pangwa and blues singer Jacqui Moloi and her band.
"We are very excited about our first annual jazz and blues weekend," said Prisha Singh, Pro Musica's marketing and communications manager.
