CONSUMER INFLATION SET TO DROP

December's consumer inflation to be announced tomorrow is expected to drop by about 1,5 percent as a result of the drop in fuel prices, Chris Hart, an economist at Investment Solutions said.

Hart said this could allow for a drop in interest rates.

He estimates that there could be another 5 to 6 percent drop in the January 2009 CPI, largely as a result of the oil prices which led to consecutive fuel price cuts. - Kea' Modimoeng
