Police at Louis Trichardt in Limpopo have arrested a 47-year-old alleged serial rapist who is linked to many cases of rape that took place in the area in the past three years.

The suspect is linked to 30 rapes, which took place next to a hiking spot in the town.

The suspect was arrested near the hiking spot along the N1 just outside Louis Trichardt while attempting to rape one of his latest victims.

Louis Trichardt police spokesman Captain Ndwamato Vele said the suspect allegedly committed all the crimes after tricking unsuspecting women he found at the hiking spot. He promised them jobs at nearby farms .

He would talk to his victims until they accepted his job offer. After sweet-talking them, he would then rape them before they could even reach the farms. Vele said police had been looking for the suspect for sometime without success.

The man is linked to most of the crimes which have taken place in the area because most of them occurred in a similar pattern.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Louis Trichardt magistrate's court tomorrow.

Vele appealed to anyone who might have fallen victim to the suspect to contact Inspector Manyatsha on 079-576-4786 or Superintendent Masenya on 082-451-7154.
