Patience won the day for SuperSport United on Saturday. This is what Gavin Hunt thought minutes after his side had snatched victory from Platinum Stars after a match that had progressively looked headed for a draw.
But what United put out at Super Stadium cannot be one of their most "tactically superior" performances ever.
Hunt admitted as much, calling it a "flat display". But he welcomed the three points that kept them at the top of the Absa Premiership.
After a fruitless first half in which Matsatsantsa a Pitori dominated the opening stages, the breakthrough came in the 75th minute when Anthony Laffor's cross was buried by Ellias Pelembe.
This earned the Mozambican his second Man of the Match award in a row and three goals in two matches.
The second goal by Glen Salmon in the 88th minute came through with a little help from The Tycoons' goalkeeper Tapuwa Kabini.
Kapini had ventured far out of his domain to try and close Pelembe up, but the reigning Player of the Season's cross was met by Salmon to make it 2-0.
Stars coach Miguel Gamondi said of the United triumph: "They were realistic - they put the ball into the back of the net."
