Eight members of Limpopo's community policing forum are expected to appear in court today on murder charges.
They are accused of beating to death a man they accused of being in possession of two stolen goats.
Dennilton police spokesman Constable Mmapitso Aphane said Tshukwane Maetane was allegedly found in possession of two stolen goats at his Kgobokwane house, near Siyabuswa.
A villager called in forum members and fellow villagers.
"It is believed that the community kicked Maetane from his home and dragged him to a community hall before phoning the police to report him for theft."
Maetane was unconscious when police arrived and was certified dead on the scene.
A villager told Sowetan they were fed up with ongoing stock theft in the area.
"Usually thieves kill their catch in their sheds and take the meat to market," he said.
The eight murder suspects will appear in Dennilton's Moutse magistrate's court soon.
