Chivalrous Kaizer Mabuza promises to show his challenger, Mzukisi Mgidi, whom he meets for the South African junior welterweight belt tonight at East London's Orient Theatre, the stars.

"I will knock him out in six rounds," said the Gauteng-based champion, who is not worried that Mgidi will be enjoying territorial advantage.

"That is why I want to do it quicker."

Attempts to get Mgidi yesterday drew a blank.

Mabuza won the belt last October from Sam Malinga. This KK Promotion's bout will be televised live at 9.30pm on Blow by Blow.

But the fighters are evenly matched and their knockout ratios tell the story.

Mabuza has two clean knock- outs, while nine of his other short route wins have been stoppages. All in all he has 19 victories, six defeats and three draws.

Mgidi has sent one of his 12 victims to slumberland from a fight record of 17 wins, three losses and a draw.

The only difference is the quality of the opponents they have fought, which makes Mabuza a slight favourite. He has fought respected fighters such as Isaac Hlatswayo, Lawrence Ngobeni and Robert Medley.

But Mgidi ended Ngobeni's career last year.

Promoter Koko Goldo has dubbed his tournament Boxing Against Xenophobia. It features two world title fights that pits local female fighters against foreign opposition.

Noni Tenge and Unathi Myekeni will oppose Amanua Gifty Ankrah from Ghana and Roidah Mushikaro from Zambia for the WBF All African welterweight and junior featherweight belts respectively.

There are three more female fights. Action is scheduled to kick off at 7pm.
