Popular club disc jockey Zinhle Jiyane has teamed up with Nomndeni Mdaki to open a school to train aspiring female DJs.

Known as Firm Understanding of Sound Entertainment, their academy is based in Melville, Johannesburg.

It was officially opened on Monday. It aims to provide equal opportunities to every female regardless of their financial circumstances.

The friends say they hope to empower a lot of young, talented females.

Jiyane, pictured, said: "We offer a 10-week course that covers the basic skills of deejaying, personal branding, business insights, mentoring and how to handle the media.

Fuse offers subsidies which will assist previously disadvantages females with passion to become DJs. I am excited about this project."
