AmaZulu defender Sanele Majola has described players' agent Mike Makaab of Prosport International as deceitful and dangerous to work with.

He warned players to be careful when dealing with Makaab.

Majola is among a horde of players who are said to have been ripped off by Makaab.

Another player who complained bitterly about Makaab yesterday was former Orlando Pirates defender Felix Musasa.

Majola stressed that he had agreed on a R50000 settlement with Makaab after the popular players' agent accused him of breaching his contract with him. The matter was settled at the PSL's dispute and resolution chamber on Monday.

"He initially wanted over R100000 but we settled for R50000," said Majola. "This man accused me of breaching the contract that I signed with him in 2005. It was a two-year contract that expired in 2007. It had an option of renewal, but I refused to renew it because there were certain things that I was not happy with under Makaab.

"We parted company verbally and I then joined AmaZulu on my own. But he [Makaab] resurfaced after one-and-a-half years and claimed that I still belong to him. I think I made the mistake of allowing them [Prosport] to release me without proof.

"I urge other players to be very carefully when they enter into contracts, not only with Mike Makaab but with other agents. I'm not angry with Makaab, though," he said.

Musasa said Makaab made it difficult for him to join SuperSport United after Pirates failed to renew his contract in 2006.

"He told United that they will not sign me without his permission because I was his player. This man failed to get me a team after Pirates refused to retain me. He was not there when I wanted him the most, but only resurfaced when I got myself a team and claimed 20 percent from my signing-on fee.

"He told me that I will never play for any other club in the country with him. But I told him that he was not the one who brought me to this country," said the Congolese defender.

The SA Football Players' Union said AmaZulu goalkeeper Kakonje Kalililo and Thanda Royal Zulu defender Japie Motale agreed to pay Makaab R30000 each as settlement for an alleged breach of contract.

Makaab was unavailable for comment yesterday.
