Police patrolling the N14 highway in Lanseria, northern Johannesburg, on Saturday morning came across an overturned red Fiat with its 24-year-old driver lying dead nearby.
ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak yesterday said paramedics had been alerted to an accident near the Petroport but could not locate the vehicle. Towing and police services searched the highway without success.
"The man apparently lost control of his vehicle late at night and was only found in the morning.
"He was thrown from his vehicle across the Jukskei River, some 60metres from the wreck," Vermaak said.
He said the Johannesburg Metro Police department were investigating the incident.
