Thandoluni Phungula's star is rising, again. The remaining member of popular maskandi trio Ingane Zoma is not letting the break-up of the group hold her down.

Tomorrow night she and her producer, and back-up singers fly to France to represent South Africa at a prestigious international music conference Midem.

Midem is a yearly international music conference that attracts promoters and musicians from all over the world to discuss the music business. The conference starts on Sunday and runs until Wednesday.

The group was invited by international promoters who were impressed by their latest album, Obama, which has already sold 38000 copies.

Released by Phungula soon after the split in December, one of the hit songs is Obama, which celebrates the success of the soon-to-be-inaugurated US president Barack Obama.

The group's producer, Shobeni Khuzwayo, said it was a great feeling to be invited to such an important event.

"We cannot wait to be part of the event," he said excitedly. "We were fortunate to be chosen from many local entries. It looks as if international promoters liked our Obama song."

Khuzwayo says he is still in negotiations with sisters Tholakele and Bongekile Ngobese, who left the group after a dispute over royalties.
