Fabian McCarthy wants out of Moroka Swallows. The central defender, who joined the Dube Birds last August, is so gatvol that he is even willing to buy himself out of the Birds aviary.

"I am prepared to even reimburse the money they paid me throughout my stay," said McCarthy, who joined Swallows after the end of his six-year marriage with Kaizer Chiefs. "They must put me on transfer or sell me."

McCarthy said his contract with Swallows ends in June next year but the 31-year-old gentle giant of local football just cannot wait that long.

"I am not complaining because I play rarely. I am a regular [player] but my happiness and safety comes before everything," he said straight up yesterday.

"The coach is aware of my feelings. I spoke with him on Tuesday after our second training session and he was sympathetic towards my feelings.

"My manager spoke to Leon Prins, who is the CEO, in December about some of the things that actually made me feel leaving the club was better for both parties.

"I was told that Prins promised to address them but nothing has changed. For example, a thief broke into our change rooms at the Germiston Grounds while we were busy training early in December.

"We were lucky that it was a youngster who stole cellphones and some money. What if it had been a seasoned criminal who went straight for car keys.

"I feel we need a far better and more secure setup than that we have.

"I cannot continue being part of a club that seems not to care for us players who I believe are an integral part of this institution.

"Yesterday [Tuesday] morning it rained cats and dogs while we were still training. The kit manager refused to give us rain suits and that is a perfect recipe for flu."

McCarthy said he had a cordial relationship with his teammates and the technical staff.

Club manager Sipho Xulu was not aware of McCarthy's plans.

"I am not sure if he explored all the avenues to voice his concerns.

"I cannot say much because I have not heard from him but we will follow it up," he said.
