Work has restarted at Limpopo's Medupi power station after a three-day stoppage because of the fear of a cholera outbreak.

Construction at the giant coal-fired electricity station near Lephalale came to a standstill last Thursday after several workers showed symptoms of the disease.

Eskom spokesman Fani Zulu said yesterday that laboratory tests found that "food poisoning" was the cause - and not cholera, as was first suspected.
