Opposition parties have hailed yesterday's judgment by the supreme court of appeal against ANC president Jacob Zuma as a victory for the judiciary.

Judge Louis Harms in Bloemfontein upheld the NPA's appeal, thereby reinstating fraud and corruption charges against the ANC president. Zuma is expected to appeal to the constitutional court.

UDM leader Bantu Holomisa said: "Harms put Judge Chris Nicholson's integrity in question."

The NPA had appealed the Durban judge's September decision that invalidated Zuma's case.

The DA's legal expert, Jacobus Delport, said they feared it would hurt South Africa's international standing to subject the ANC president to a criminal investigation.
