Two Strangers and a Wedding, the Kaya FM show that connected South African Airforce flight engineer Peter (Derrick Matthee) and accounts clerk Thandi (Gail Brookstein) in their short-lived marriage last year, is back.

A source has confirmed to Sowetan that this groundbreaking reality radio show, the first of its kind in SA and Africa, will run again later this year on Kaya FM.

The show challenged socio-cultural preconceptions and emphasised the right to choose.

"Yes, we might have it by the second half of the year, pending confirmation," Kaya FM programmes manager Neil Johnson said yesterday. "The response we got from our listeners was just phenomenal."

The station ran the competition in April last year. The winning groom was chosen by listeners and he chose his bride from a selection of "bachelorettes".

The competition ended on May 21 when "Peter" finally made his choice to marry "Thandi".

But the relationship soured and the marriage crumbled just two months later. The couple cited "irreconcilable differences" for the breakdown.
