Young and aspiring softball players in Limpopo will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills at school level from the second half of this year.

This will be made possible by Limpopo Province parastatal, LimDev who pledged from last year that they would bankroll school competitions this year.

Stan Mathabatha, LimDev's managing director, said the competition will not start in April, as earlier planned.

"Guided by the request by the MEC for education Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, that the department needs to strengthen its infrastructure to ensure that there is enough personnel to carry the project forward, we then resolved to wait for that process and implement the project around July," he said yesterday.

"We believe this project will assist Limpopo Softball Association in unearthing more talent and ensure that the province does well nationally in the game."
