The Education Department says the national matric pass rate is unlikely to change with the expected release of outstanding results today.
The 2008 matric pass rate stands at 62,5percent.
The department's Penny Vinjevold, pictured, said: "It is very unlikely that the national pass rate will change. It is the same thing that we said on December 30. Our main focus now is on getting the results."
When the matric results were released last month, the results of 56000 matric pupils - nearly 10percent of the 589912-strong class of 2008 - were excluded because of "irregularities".
Vinjevold said most of the results had been released to schools.
"Currently only less than 10000 pupils have not received their results.
"We hope that by tomorrow (today) afternoon all the results will be out."
The Education Department's Duncan Hindle is investigating the delay. His report is expected at the end of the month.
Earlier this week, DA's education spokesman Desiree van der Walt asked for an independent inquiry into the issue.
"The department's failure to release more than 10percent of the matric results is indicative of astonishing administrative failure which cannot go uninvestigated," she said.
