NFD teams expected to shop around

The National First Division is expected to be a hive of transfer activity during the January transfer window.

Jomo Cosmos were first out of the blocks, announcing the signing of former Moroka Swallows striker Evans Gwekwerere.

Ezenkosi's manager Andrew Rabutla said: "Evans' experience will assist in developing confidence in our youngsters ."

Nathi Lions lost two defenders to Absa Premiership side Lamontville Golden Arrows.

"We have released Mlungiseni Gunene and Simphiwe Duze to Arrows," Nathi Maphumulo, Amabhubesi's owner, said yesterday. "We will sign Dumisani Gunene who played for Malanti Chiefs in Swaziland where he was the league's top goal scorer.

"We will promote six players from our development side."

Johnny Ferrera, FC Cape Town's coach said they are still assessing a few players from other NFD teams and one from Ivory Coast, who may be signed before the end of this week.

Inland stream log leaders Winners Park are also looking to sign three experience players to consolidate their lead.

But they will not be releasing any players and warned teams off star player Ndumiso Mabela.
