Two men aged 25 appeared in the Atteridgeville magistrate's court in Pretoria on separate charges of rape after they allegedly forced themselves on two girls aged 12 and 15.

Jubi David Mashifane and Stanley Kgwele were not asked to plead and the matter was postponed to January 5.

Mashifane is accused of raping the 12-year-old girl on the evening of December 13 in the bushes near the Saulsville hostel.

Kgwele is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl and was allegedly caught in the act by the alleged victim's uncle when he heard his niece's screams in the nearby bushes.

Police said Mashifane fled when he saw the victim's uncle approaching. He was arrested on Christmas Eve.

Kgwele was arrested after his alleged victim's mother was alerted the fact that he had dragged her daughter into his shack.

The mother went to Kgwele's shack where she heard her daughter screaming in desperation.
