Three men have been arrested for robbing an elderly couple of R1500 in their home in Marlboro, Johannesburg, yesterday, police said.

Inspector Moses Map-hakela said the three men gained entry to the house by telling a gardener working outside the gate to press the buzzer and ask the owners to open for him.

"They demanded money from the 69-year-old man and his wife at gunpoint.

"Once the couple had given them R1500 the men fled but police patrolling the area saw them running away from the house."

They were arrested and the police found an unlicensed revolver and the stolen money on them.

The men were yesterday being held at Bramley police station pending their court appearance. - Sapa
