Khumbulani Konco, Bloemfontein Celtic's team manager, believes the arrival of new coach Owen "Rubber Doll" Da Gama has raised the confidence of the players.

Da Gama is expected to meet club management today (Wed) to outline his plans.

"I can tell you that all the players are determined to get positive results in the second round," said Konco yesterday.

Phunya SeleSele resume their Absa Premiership campaign against Platinum Stars at Olen Park Stadium on January 10.

Celtic are rooted to the foot of the table and doesn't look like they can avoid the axe in May.

But Da Gama could be what the doctor ordered.

"We did not collect enough points in the first round, but we are all confident that 2009 will be our year. We could not have asked for a better coach than Owen.

"The man knows his job and we don't have a reason to panic. I also want to thank our supporters for their continued support and I urge them to continue to root for the team next year," Konco said adding want-away keeper Shu-Aib Walters will see out his contract in 2010 in Bloemfontein.

Walters wants out after failing to command first place since the arrival of Patrick Tignyemb.
