Parents had mixed reactions to the new system barring the publication of matric results by newspapers before they are released to schools and pupils.
"Not publishing results in newspapers will kill the excitement and hype associated with matric," said Rudolph Scheepers, a parent from Klipspruit West in Johannesburg.
Another parent, John Petersen of Ennerdale, echoed Scheepers' view. "The hype about matric results has been killed," said Petersen.
But Nontando Ntsele, 46, a teacher at Jabulile School at Orange Farm said: "It is good that the kids get the results at school because newspapers used to make mistakes."
