Ecstatic turnout In His Presence

Durban was the place to be on Saturday night as thousands of believers converged on the Jesus Dome to experience gospel music and top preachers for what was the city's biggest show of the year.

More than 6000 gospel lovers packed the auditorium for the show dubbed Seven Hours in His Presence, organised by Gagasi FM, KwaZulu-Natal's fastest-growing station.

Though the air-conditioning unit broke down and the audience had to endure extreme heat, it was worth it, and the fans got more than they had bargained for. As the temperature soared, so did the entertainment.

The performers included Joyous Celebration, Jabu Hlongwane, Andile Majola, Pietermaritzburg SOS, Abanqobi, Soul Renaissance Sisters, Mthunzi Namba and winner of the I want to Sing Gospel show, Lungisani - to mention but a few.

The feast also included sermons by Pastor SD Gumbi, Thomas Radebe, Joshua Maponga, Archie Buthelezi, Vusi Dube and Sithembiso Zondo.

Fans were especially thrilled by 2008 Crown Gospel Awards best new-comers Pietermaritzburg SOS when they brilliantly performed their hit song Wangenz'umuntu.

The artists with the top billing at the event, Joyous Celebration, left the crowd crying for more with their latest hit songs.

Judging by the attendance on the night, Gagasi 99.5FM will have to organise a bigger venue for the next event.
