Stop giving Cope credit it doesn't deserve

It is apparent that Cope enjoys positive media coverage.

It is apparent that Cope enjoys positive media coverage.

Unfortunately most people believe everything that is reported in the media. Hence the hype around the formation of the new political party.

There is no denying that Cope is a welcome development and that the new party came at the right time. The ANC needed a wake-up call as it was growing more complacent by the day.

The ruling ANC is facing stiff political competition. Cope is giving the ruling party sleepless nights.

It appears Shikota has made inroads into Eastern Cape. This was made possible by prominent ANC dissidents such as Mluleki George and Smuts Ngonyama, who are both very influential in the area.

Political analysts say the ANC might lose Eastern Cape to either Cope or the UDM in next year's election. Eastern Cape is definitely the province to watch next year.

In the run-up to the 2004 elections political pundits predicted that the ANC would win the elections with a reduced margin. They were wrong. The ANC increased its majority.

The recent visit by Jacob Zuma has shown that the ruling party still enjoys the support of the poor masses in that poverty-stricken province.

Fikile Mbalula was right when he said Cope's support was overrated. The ruling party should stop giving Shikota credit and attention it does not deserve.
