The country has a new gospel singer whose voice is starting to find its space on the heavily saturated and competitive gospel music scene.
Khwezi Motomi's latest offering, Umusa, like most gospel offerings, is in praise of God.
The new gospel artist hails from Clermont township in KwaZulu-Natal, where she completed her high school education.
Khwezi, as she is affectionately known in the music circles, comes from a Christian family and is a born-again Christian.
She started singing in Sunday School when she was only 14 years old. She grew up studying music and to hone her singing skills, she was part of local groups such as the Holy Sounds, in which she was one of the lead singers.
Khwezi continued singing until her talent was recognised by Mlilo Productions, a label that gave her the opportunity to record her music.
She recorded her first album, Sengimtholile, in 2005.
This album did not get the deserved airplay. While her music was played on some radio stations it performed dismally on the market.
Khwezi has mesmerized people with her voice and has blessed and entertained audiences at a number of gatherings, including churches.
Her motivation is the belief that people get blessed, revived and connected to God through her music. She says the problems she encountered in life made her change and accept Jesus Christ as her personal saviour.
"I realised that the only person who can take care of anyone's life is God, through Jesus Christ," she says.
"God recently tested my faith when my two sisters died. This got me to praise God for all the good things He has done for me."
This year she released a 14-track album titled Umusa, which is doing well on the market.
The album has just landed a digital music distribution deal with Peach Mobile and is being sold as a ringtone.
She is now getting massive airplay on a number of national and community radio stations.
