Platinum Stars shamed the star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns when they blasted them 2-0 in an Absa Premiership match at Super Stadium yesterday.
It was Sundowns coach Henri Michel's second defeat on the trot at home, since he took over the reins from Trott Moloto.
The visitors were stable in the midfield and they showed composure and literally forced Sundowns defence to err.
Columbian Luis Renteira put Stars into the lead after he collected a pass from Henrico Botes and beat advancing goalie Calvin Marlin in the 30th minute.
Stars increased their lead when defender Michael Khaile set up Renteira from the right flank in the 53rd minute.
l Amabinneplaas failed to qualify for the African Nations Championship after they were beaten 2-0 by Zimbabwe in Harare yesterday.
The South Africans lost 3-0 on aggregate after they lost 1-0 at home. The inaugural continental showpiece is billed for Ivory Coast in March.
