Tim Clark is eyeing the South African Open Championship at Pearl Valley and is determined to win for the third time.

This three-day competition is one of the most significant in the country and bound to attract top class golfers. It tees off on Thurs day and ends on Sunday..

Clark will join Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman, Retief Goosen, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and defending champion James Kingston in the field that will celebrate golf in the Cape Winelands.

Clark won the South African Open in 2002 and in January 2005, two victories that he says remain among the highlights of his career.

"They're titles that I really cherish and this is certainly a tournament I look forward to every year," he said " The chance to play in South Africa in front of your home fans is great because we spend so much time playing overseas."

Els has won the Open four times, Clark, Goosen and Immelman have each won it twice . It therefore, stands to reason that these players will engage in one of the fiercest battles on the day for victory.

Clark has struggled with injuries over the past few years, but this year he played the most tournaments on the PGA Tour than he has in the last four years.
