I have always liked and respected Mangosuthu Buthelezi's leadership.
He is a veteran who has stood the test of time, but his IFP seems to be confused.
This African leader has done his part to get the IFP to what it is today.
I fail to understand what makes the IFP elect Buthelezi as its candidate for next year's elections. He has overstayed his welcome.
Why can't he bow out in dignity like Madiba? The IFP will never get the votes of young people like me if it wants to win KZN.
It is more a regional than national party and doesn't have branches in Mpumalanga, North West, Limpopo and so on.
Electing the ageing Buthelezi gives me the impression that the IFP has since inception never groomed a leader of its own to the level of Buthelezi.
The mayor of Zululand, Zanele Magwaza-Msibi, Mangaqa Mncwango, and Musa Zondi are capable of taking the party to greater heights than Buthelezi, who has clearly overstayed his welcome .
