She has been through thick and thin in terms of her relationship with the powerful and famous.

Now Muvhango star and R&B singer Lebo Elle Tisane needs healing through composing gospel music.

Her new album paints a picture of her trials and tribulations, a far departure from her usual R&B music.

Tisane, who has had it hard in her love life, said her new gospel album is a thanksgiving to God for giving her strength during the trying period.

Last year Tisane broke off her engagement to kwaito singer Brickz, who is reputed to have roving eyes and a string of affairs.

"After the stress and hurt that I went through last year a gospel album was the right thing. God has kept me focused during this trying period," she said.

TS Records boss and Brickz manager Thembinkosi "TK" Nciza told Sowetan that the kwaito star has moved on.

"As far as I know Brickz has nothing to do with Elle."

Tisane said she decided to take a break from music to pursue her acting career.

"I took a break from recording because I was busy with my acting," she said. "I was also doing corporate gigs and I have launched Elletainment, a public relations and marketing company."

Tisane said she decided to change to gospel because she always wanted to sing gospel. She said when she came into the industry she thought of money and fame and forgot her passion.

"I grew up in a Christian background. Gospel was my first love. But when I came into the industry I forgot about that and thought of music that would sell fast."
