ANC bigwigs kick-start election campaign in KZN

Canaan Mdletshe

The ANC unveiled its election campaign in KwaZulu-Natal in a 48-hour roadshow blitz that saw its heavyweights wooing key constituencies.

The party's leaders, including president Jacob Zuma and general secretary Gwede Mantashe, also met with senior media figures in the province.

Mantashe, at a meeting in Wentworth, urged the coloured community to stop thinking of themselves as a minority. He slammed claims that they were under-represented in the ANC.

But community member John Stewards complained: "We have no sense of belonging . During the apartheid regime we were neglected because we were not white enough - and now we seem not to be black enough. So we are excluded."
