Kwaito star Mandoza had half a glass of wine on the night of the Mzansi Awards.

In court papers yesterday Mandoza, real name Mduduzi Tshabalala, claimed he only had half a glass of white wine at the awards.

The night of the awards went well for the kwaito star until he killed two people in an accident.

Mandoza had dropped off his wife Mpho in Pimville, Soweto, after attending the awards ceremony in Pretoria.

The accident happened just after midnight on March 1 while he was driving to Ceasar's Palace in Kempton Park for the after-party.

But sources say Mandoza had been drinking stuff stronger than wine that night. A few fellow guests recall his ordering a double tot of Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky.

While driving on the N1 Highway to Kempton Park, Mandoza's Chrysler Crossfire crashed into the back of a Jetta, instantly killing its two occupants, Felix Thebe and Charles George Shabalala, who were driving home from work.
