Amajita face a stern test today when they engage Zimbabwe in the semifinals of the Metropolitan Under-20 Cosafa Championships at Galeshewe stadium in Kimberley at 5pm.

The Zimbabweans qualified for the semis through a hat draw after they finished level on points with Malawi in Group C, because the goal difference rule does not apply.

The match that is dubbed a "final before the final" is expected to keep spectators glued to their seats throughout the 90 minutes, judging by both sides' good display during the group stage matches.

Amajita have a score to settle with the Zimbabweans after they walloped Amajita 3-0 in the final of the same tournament last year in Thulamahashe, Mpumalanga.

The home side will be minus the inspirational Masibusane Zongo of SuperSport United and the Moroka Swallows duo of Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Phumelele Bhengu, who were recalled by their teams.

Amajita coach Serame "Rhee" Letsoaka said the boys understand the importance of playing against Zimbabwe.

"We will go for a win to ensure that our tarnished image is redeemed," said Letsoaka.

His Zimbabwean counterpart, Methembe Ndlovu brushed aside Letsoaka's confidence and made it clear that they will beat the South Africans.

"Playing against Amajita is a motivation in itself, but we will show no respect to them as we want to defend our title. Our Under-17 players like Khama Billiat, Archford Gugu, Brighton Mugoni and Fanuel Chogari will tear them apart," he said.

In the opening match Mozambique will lock horns with Angola at 2.30pm at the same venue.

The final will be staged at Absa Park Stadium on Sunday.
