The split between promoter Rodney Berman and trainer Nick Durandt could affect the latter's gym adversely.

Boxers at Durandt's gym, especially those who fought under the banner of Golden Gloves, are unsure about their future while those who fought under the Branco Sports Production umbrella of promoter Branco Milenkovic are having the time of their lives.

One of those extremely concerned fighters is Zolani " Untouchable" Marali who has bolted and joined the growing Hotbox boxing gym of successful 30-year-old mentor Colin Nathan.

Marali, 31, the WBF junior lightweight champion, revealed this yesterday.

He said: "It's a pure business move.

"I have a binding contract with Durandt, which ends in April. I tried several times, but unsuccessfully, to inform Nick Durandt about my move.

"Colin is my new trainer and manager, Boyboy Mpulampula will be his assistant, and Brian Mitchell will also be involved with them in guiding my career to greater heights."

Nathan said: "He will fight for the IBO junior lightweight title on March 21. At the age of 31, he still has a couple years in him. He is a tremendous talent and I believe he is the best junior lightweight in the country".

Attempts to get a comment from Durandt drew a blank.
