The South African Schools Football Association (Sasfa) team is looking beyond the semifinals of the national Under-17 Championships in Embalenhle, Secunda, today.

This is because their coach Mandla Mazibuko believes his exciting boys can beat Eastern Cape in the semifinal at 1pm.

Mazibuko was speaking to Sowetan after their 3-0 rout of the winless Mpumalanga in the final match of the group stages yesterday.

He said the win sent confidence soaring in their camp.

"We are confident that we will qualify for the final of this competition with the players I have in the team," Mazibuko said.

He added: "'We know what to expect from Eastern Cape after we spied on them in their previous matches.

We will capitalise on their weaknesses to beat them."

Gauteng's unbeaten run in the group stages is expected to motivate them against North West in another semi today. Kickoff is at 3pm. The final takes place tomorrow from noon.

Yesterday's results: KwaZulu-Natal 2, Gauteng 2; North West 2, Limpopo 2; Northern Cape 2, Free Sate 2.
