The Limpopo education department said the marking of more than 90000 matric examination scripts will start on Saturday at about 18 centres across the province.

The process is expected to be completed by December 13.

This is the moment of truth that pupils have been waiting for.

They will soon know what they have achieved after the introduction of a national curriculum statement this year.

The matriculants wrote their last paper yesterday.

Department spokesman Ndo Mangala said 4400 experienced markers will work hard to ensure that the process continues smoothly at all marking centres.

He said all the examination scripts will be brought to the marking centres by the end of today and the markers are required to be there by Friday.

"Though the pupils have been writing the first examination under a new national curriculum statement, we expect the results to improve," Mangala said

The results will be announced on December 30.
