Gauteng shot to the top of Group A in the national Under-17 championships after beating Western Cape 2-1 in Embalenhle, Secunda yesterday.
Thabo Mnyamane scored a brace with Naziem Shaffier scoring for Western Cape equalised .
Gauteng and the South African Schools Football Association are level on seven points from three games but Gauteng lead the group on goal difference.
Both teams will play their last games today with Sasfa taking on the whipping boys Mpumalanga at 1pm. Gauteng engage KwaZulu-Natal who earlier beat Mpumalanga 2-0.
