This two-day colloquium, to be held in Potchefstroom, North West, will be hosted by the Tlokwe Municipality and starts tomorrow.

Other speakers include Eddie Maloka of the New Partnership for Africa's Development and Eugene Chidhakwa of the Zimbabwe Sports Commission. Maloka is a former LOC legacy projects boss. This event has been organised by the 2010 World Cup Government Unit in the Department of Sport and Recreation.

Mmemme Mogotsi, communications deputy director of the unit, said each southern Africa country will be represented by a delegation of 10 youths.

The event will also coincide with the biennial Zone Six Games, an event organised by the Supreme Council of Sports in Africa through its southern Africa region. The Supreme Council is a body of sports ministers.

Mogotsi said the aim of the colloquium is to create a platform for youth to deliberate on how the hosting of the World Cup should advance their development.

Dan Moyo, head of the unit, said: "When we were bidding to host the tournament, we made a commitment that it would be an African World Cup."

Makhenkesi Stofile, Minister of Sport and Recreation, will deliver the keynote address at the colloquium.
