South African Football Association president Molefi Oliphant will deliver a keynote address at the third day of the national under-17 championships at Embalenhle Stadium in Secunda today.

Oliphant's presence will create great excitement among the players and motivate them to up their performances as they vie for honours in this annual showpiece.

He is also expected to urge local residents to continue to rally behind the tournament which ends on Friday.

Safa, through its competitions director Balebetse Monnakgotla, is impressed with the turnout at the matches since the event started on Monday.

Yesterday's matches saw pre-tournament favourites, the SA Schools Football Association qualify for the semifinals.

They walloped Western Cape 3-1 in their second match of the day and this after they had secured a goalless draw against Gauteng.

The latter were ruthless in their second match when they clobbered the hapless Mpumalanga 5-0.

North West also secured a passage to the semis, thanks to a 2-0 triumph over Free State.

Eastern Cape pipped Northern Cape 1- 0; KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape fought out a 1-all stalemate and Limpopo emerged 2-1 victors over the event's whipping boys, Free State

Today's fixtures: Limpopo v Northern Cape; Mpumalanga v KZN; Gauteng v Western Cape and Free State v Eastern Cape.
